If you are one person looking for a CRM, the headline price on a vendor's pricing page is not what you will pay, and at one vendor it is not even available to you. Read on 24 August 2026, monday CRM publishes Basic at $12 per seat and also states that plans start from three users, so the smallest bill a single person can produce there is $36 a month on annual commitment. HubSpot Sales Hub Starter, published at $7 per seat on the same day, sells you one seat, so the smallest bill is $7. The headline gap between those two products is $5. The real gap for one person is $29.
Checked on 24 August 2026. Every figure below was read that day on the vendor's own pricing page with the toggle switched both ways. Prices change without notice. Check the vendor's page before you buy.
Is this a test?
No. This is a price read, not a measurement. No account was opened, no seat was bought and no invoice exists behind this page. The seat minimums quoted are the vendors' published statements, not rules we hit at a checkout.
What is the cheapest CRM for one person?
Of the vendors whose pricing pages we could read on 24 August 2026, the smallest paid bill for a single user was HubSpot Sales Hub Starter at $7 per seat per month on annual commitment, or $20 paying month to month. Close Solo and Freshsales Growth both published $9 on annual commitment. A free tier exists at EngageBay, capped at a stated 250 contacts.
That answer comes with a condition attached, which is the rest of this page: the cheapest published rate and the cheapest bill available to one person are not the same thing at every vendor.
The smallest real bill for one person, vendor by vendor
Read 24 August 2026. "Seats you must buy" is the vendor's own published minimum. The monthly totals are the seat price multiplied by that minimum.
| Vendor and plan | Seats you must buy | Smallest monthly bill, committed | Smallest monthly bill, paying monthly | Committed for a year, in cash |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| HubSpot Sales Hub Starter | 1 | $7 (annual) | $20 | $84 |
| Close Solo | 1, and only 1 | $9 (annual) | $19 | $108 |
| Freshsales Growth | 1 | $9 (annual, no monthly option published) | not available | $108 |
| EngageBay Basic | 1 | $12.74 (two-year) or $13.79 (annual) | $14.99 | $165.48 on the annual rate |
| monday CRM Basic | 3 | $36 (annual) | $54 | $432 |
| Leadfeeder Discover | not priced by seat | EUR 79 (annual) | EUR 113 | EUR 948 |
Two free tiers appeared on the pages we read and belong in the answer for a single person: EngageBay publishes a free plan with a stated 250-contact cap, and Leadfeeder Lite publishes a free tier showing the last 100 companies per month. Those are the vendors' stated caps. We have not added records until either one stopped, so we cannot tell you what happens at the ceiling.

Which CRM will not sell one seat?
monday CRM. Its pricing page states that plans start from three users. One person pays for three seats or does not buy the product, which turns a $12 published rate into a $36 monthly floor on annual commitment and a $54 floor paying monthly. Against HubSpot's $7 that is more than five times the bill, on two products whose headline prices are $5 apart.
This is the single largest distortion we found between a headline price and a one-person bill, and it is published in plain sight on the vendor's own page. It just never survives into a comparison table, because comparison tables have a column for price and no column for the minimum.
We checked what the wider web says about this on 19 August 2026, reading the live results for the query about which CRMs have a minimum number of seats. The pages returned were consultancy checklists, forum threads and vendor marketing, and not one of them answered the question. The closest thing to an answer in the whole set was a single unsourced range from one consultancy. Ask specifically about monday's minimum and the answer appears, from vendor documentation, and the figures quoted around it carry no billing period at all.
Where the cheapest published rate is not available to one person
The opposite trap also exists, and it catches you later rather than at signup.
Close Solo is single user by definition. Its $9 annual rate is genuinely the smallest bill a single person can pay at Close, and it caps at a published 10,000 contacts. The moment a second person needs a login, Solo is not an option, and the first plan that admits them is Essentials at $35 per user on annual commitment. Adding one colleague therefore multiplies the per-user rate by roughly four, and then charges it twice. A one-person bill of $9 becomes a two-person bill of $70.
That is worth knowing on the day you sign up rather than the day you hire, because the $9 tier is not a starting point on a ladder. It is a separate product for a category of one.
Freshsales Growth published no monthly option on the page we read, only $9 billed annually. For one person that is not a $9 decision, it is a $108 decision made once. The rate is genuinely low. The commitment is genuinely twelve months.
EngageBay's lowest figure is a two-year rate. Its $12.74 requires a 24-month commitment; the annual rate is $13.79 and the monthly rate is $14.99. A single person comparing $12.74 against Close's $9 is comparing two years of obligation against one.
Does the ranking change once minimums are applied?
Yes, and that is the whole point of the table above. By published headline rate on 24 August 2026, the order from cheapest was HubSpot at $7, then Close and Freshsales at $9, then monday at $12, then EngageBay at $12.74. By the smallest bill a single person can actually be charged, monday moves from fourth to last by a wide margin, at $36, and the two vendors that looked $5 apart end up $29 apart.
Nothing was hidden to produce that reversal. Every input is published by the vendor. It only requires reading the minimum on the same page as the price and doing the multiplication, which is the arithmetic that comparison tables have no column for.
Which vendors we could not read, and why
Each was attempted on 24 August 2026 and none is filled in from another source:
- Pipedrive and Salesforce: both pricing pages refused the request. No figure printed, so neither appears in the ranking above.
- Zoho CRM: the page served Indian rupees in that session. We print no converted dollar figure the vendor does not charge.
- Brevo, treated here only as a sales-platform CRM: the page returned no readable plan content.
- Streak: the two toggle figures could not be attributed to a billing period with confidence, so no per-user price appears. Its published Enterprise tier is stated as being for teams of ten or more, which is a ceiling rather than a floor but still puts a tier out of a solo user's reach.
Any of these could be cheaper for one person than everything in the table. We do not know, and we would rather say that than guess.
What this page does not do
It does not tell you which CRM to buy. A $7 seat that cannot do the one thing your pipeline needs is more expensive than a $36 one that can, and this page compares no features at all. It does not cover what sits outside the seat price: calling and other metered usage, add-ons, and onboarding fees, which on HubSpot's own page start at a one-time $1,500 for Professional. It does not tell you what the free tiers do when you reach their caps, because we have not reached them. And nothing here has been used: no account, no invoice, no timed setup.
FAQ
What is the cheapest CRM for a single user?
Of the pages we could read on 24 August 2026, HubSpot Sales Hub Starter at $7 per seat on annual commitment, with Close Solo and Freshsales Growth both at $9 on annual commitment. A free tier exists at EngageBay with a stated 250-contact cap. Four vendors could not be read that day and are named above.
Which CRMs have a minimum number of seats?
On the pages read on 24 August 2026, monday CRM stated that plans start from three users. Close applies the opposite constraint on Solo, which is single user only. We did not find published minimums on the other pages we could read, and four vendors could not be read at all.
How much does monday CRM cost for one person?
It is not sold to one person as one seat. The page states plans start from three users, so on Basic at $12 per seat the smallest bill is $36 a month on annual commitment, or $54 paying monthly, read 24 August 2026.
Is an annual CRM commitment worth it for a solo user?
It lowered the monthly rate on every page we read, by between about 15 and 65 percent depending on the vendor. Whether it is worth it depends on whether you are still using the product in month eight. Paying $108 up front to stop in month three costs more than the monthly rate you avoided.
Can I just use a free CRM plan?
Two of the vendors we read publish one: EngageBay at a stated 250 contacts, and Leadfeeder Lite showing the last 100 companies a month, which is a different kind of product. Those are the caps the vendors state. We have not tested what happens when you reach them, and the gap between a stated cap and an observed one is a page we have not written yet.
